Clinical Genetics Services  in the UK are provided in 23 centres throughout the UK. The Peninsula Clinical Genetics Service (PCGS) is one of three centres in the South Western Region providing genetic services to the local population.

The PCGS receives referrals from all parts of Devon and Cornwall. The main office is based at The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter, and there are satellite offices in Plymouth and Truro.

The service is currently provided by a staff of four Consultant Clinical Geneticists, two specialist registrars in genetics, six genetic nurse specialists/counsellors, with one trainee genetic counsellor completed her training and another trainee just appointed. Ten support staff have an integral role in maintaining the smooth running of the service. Close links are maintained with the Peninsula Molecular Genetics Laboratory as well as the Molecular and Cytogenetic Laboratories in Bristol.
